I think ID is a reasonable explanation for our planet. The vast complexity of the Solar System also lends credence to ID. There is nothing wrong with not knowing the answer to how these things came about and creating Hypothesis to draw our possibilities. I find it very narrow minded to ignore this as a possibility.
ID does not purport a Deity but an outside influence. Those who look to aliens as a possible reason as to why life has occurred here could stand by this theory. Look, we just introduced earth water(stylized) to Martian soil to see its reaction.
