As far as free gadgets go, SUPER is an awesome program for decoding and encoding video … supports all these Video formats:
3gp/3g2 (Nokia,Siemens, Sony, Ericsson) asf, avi (DivX, H263, H263+, H264, XviD, MPEG4, MSmpeg4 etc..) , dat, fli, flc, flv (used in Flash) , mkv, mpg (Mpeg I,Mpeg II), mov (H263, H263+, H264, MPEG4 etc..), mp4 (H263,H263+,H264,MPEG4), ogg, qt, rm, ram, rmvb, str (Play Station), swf (Flash) , ts (HDTV), viv, vob, wmv - Audio format: aac, ac3, amr, mmf, mp2, mp3, mp4, mpc, ogg, ra, wav, wma.
In addition it works with AviSynth Script Files: avs … providing a lot of editing via AviSynth.
It decodes and encodes by using: ffmpeg, Mencoder, ffmpeg2theora, producer and directshow … if you have experience with ffmpeg / Tversity you already know that sometimes these codecs can be complicated but using directshow can simplify things: all the codecs you need are included in the installation.
Yes you can encode Flash FLV files that can be embeded on a page using the same html as is used by you tube — just change the location, URL, for the location of the FLV file. MC Media Player can also be used with FLV files.
AMV is not supported, used by ipods, but you would want to use the software that comes with the ipod to create an optimized file … AMV is a compression that requires less computer power, the software that can with the IPOD should be able to compress one of the formats
supported by SUPER into an AMV that is matched to the device.
