Do people who are only visiting the country care about warrants?
Posted by: Wayne in Pro Legal ImmigrationI think some people may have the experience of traveling, and being unliked by people you don’t like; it is well not really important, you likely will never see those people again. “You don’t like me, I don’t like you, bye.”
So what goes through the mind of somebody who starts to develop a criminal record who holds citizenship in another country and is only here to work and put enough money in the bank to later return home?
United for a Sovereign American story: Revolving door for illegal aliens driving without licenses Documents an Illegal Immigrate building a criminal record, After being told not to drive (by a judge), he leaves and gets into his car and drives away. Is he careless with his future? or does he see his future somewhere that what the Judge says is not important?

I know a lot of citizens who drive without licenses. Some of them don’t have the money to pay a lawyer to get their licenses back after a third-time drunk driving conviction, many many others got caught in Michigan’s “driver responsibility” law which mandates huge unreasonable fines –over $1000–for a first-time speeding ticket. Young people just cant pay that kind of money. Unfortunately, in most of America, you cant survive without driving. So what are ya gonna do? Drive. If you dont like illegal aliens driving to work, go after their employers for employing them. Otherwise, they’re gonna do what they gotta do, just like every other human being on this planet.

True, driving or not being able to has a big impact on people’s lives. Driving may very well be more important than finishing High School in the job market, as people need to be at work on time in a reliable fashion.
Given the example used in the post it may very well distract from the actual point of the post. Some people who consider themselves as visitors, who don’t intent to make a home in the country, don’t care if they break laws that don’t have an immediate penalty associated with it. Catch and release did not work because people did not go to court; Bail in border areas is statistically higher in fear that people are more of a flight risk; San Diego has one of the highest rates of people not showing up in court and the courts issuing bench warrants for Failure to Appear.
Would the criminal justice system work better or worse if people took what the judge says as serious? And, what is the impact on a person’s decision to do that if they don’t consider themselves as staying.
As to the last question; the same can be said of people who live in a different state. They leave the state and go to their home, they don’t pay the fine unless the state is willing to file papers across state lines - some times they get away with it. I don’t consider people from other countries as smarter or less smart - the problem is not the people! it is the system!
