I saw an interesting article in which somebody made a comment that unless he saw something in SVG that he could not do in flash he did not have much interest in it. Unfortunately I lost the bookmark to the article.

My answer is that SVG being a text based markup language means that scripts can modify the content in a snap. The electoral 2008 map (time allocation allowing) has the promise of being a web 2 based map where people can post in real time when they see updated election numbers. The script can recolor the map based on this input and be virtually based on real time numbers. Flash does not lend itself to this type of an application. Conformation of the numbers submitted of course needs to come from views other than the person who submitted the update.
