I would normally not post about a strawpoll for the simple reason that the people polled are not a cross section of voters. They are people who came to a specific event. This exception involves a poll at a Republican Party weekend conference (RINOs likely where not present, nor people who recently left another party). Details about the poll are in the Detroit news.
Romney himself has a build in disapproval rating of 40% more hated than any other major candidate except for Clinton. He is clearly a conservative man of faith who spends most of his life in a white shirt and tie. Moderates may think he has no chance. But if he has support in the base of the Republican party and they vote based on their ideals he could get the nomination and is less hated than Clinton.
On immigration QC times quotes him saying:
“We’re not going to round up 12 million people and send them out of the country,” Romney said. “We are going to enforce our immigration laws, and that means that there will be times when people are deported.”
A pragmatic position, if not exactly to the liking of everybody.
